Keith Manning PDF Print E-mail

Pastor Keith Manning came to KHBC in April 2006. Immediately prior to this he, his wife Kathleen, and their three children served for six years as missionaries in Central Asia with the International Mission Board. Their two youngest were born overseas. He's also been a College & Career leader, a Cantor (worship leader) at two different Messianic Synagogues, a Missions Pastor, a hospital chaplain and a hospice chaplain. In February 2010 Keith was appointed as a volunteer chaplain with the Saint Joseph Fire Department.

Keith says, "Travel is nothing new to me; I was born in Japan and grew up traveling all over the world as the son of a US Air Force officer. After graduating with my BS (come on, no jokes now), I worked for several years as a medical physics research assistant and, later, as a computer analyst. I had become a follower of Christ just before my senior year of college; several life events and a sense of inward direction helped me to understand that the Lord wanted me in full-time ministry. I received my Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas in 1996.

"I sang baritone for eight seasons with the Ft. Worth (Texas) Symphony Orchestra. When I was a bit younger I used to go rock climbing and rappelling, sky diving, and other wild stuff, but life right now is pretty tame in comparison. I absolutely love being a husband and a daddy, and for me relaxing means spending time with my wife & kids, watching movies, reading, and working around the house (my major project in 2007 was putting in a downstairs bathroom, and in 2010 I built a home office). I'm partial to classical music and some C&W; if not listening to that I prefer contemporary praise music and some of the old hymns.

"Besides research materials, I'm currently reading Eats, Shoots, & Leaves by Lynne Truss, Who Moved My Cheese by Dr. Spencer Johnson, The Confession of Brother Haluin by Ellis Peters, The Gospel According to Moses by Athol Dickson, and rereading Evidence that Demands a Verdict by Josh McDowell and Simple Church by Rainer & Geiger."
